Noworm - Home Noworm - The end of the worm

Animals infected by worms can be affected in various different ways depending on the age and health status of the animal and also the worm(s) involved. Signs can range from irritation around the anus to digestive problems, such as diarrhoea or constipation, or even to death in severely affected young animals.

Worms can cause the following signs in dogs and cats:

Occlusion of intestines and bile ducts - total blockage of intestines can lead to death, if the worms are not removed

Massive roundworm infection

Diarrhoea/Constipation

Heavy infection of any intestinal nematode or cestode

General loss of condition and 'ill-thrift'

Heavy infections of any intestinal worms especially in young, old or debilitated animals.

Loss of blood and anaemia, especially in severely infected young animals

Heavy infection of blood-sucking worms such as hookworms, or worms that damage the gut lining, such as whipworms

Pneumonia

Migrating Toxocara canis larvae in the lungs

Tissue damage from migrating larvae

Dermatitis on feet due to hookworm larvae
